A medical thriller/vampire novel that doesn't suck (pun intended).

Looks like I'm not going to make 50k this year. *shrug* My schedule's been insane and school has had to take precedence as usual, so...I'll still be working on the novel on and off this year, but...yeah. Maybe next year. :/

Anyway. Highlights from an extremely amusing AIM conversation I had with Javatom this afternoon.

You had a cool time until RedFraggle ate all your candy.

Yay, a truffle from Simon! xD

Again! Again! )

Today went pretty well. The Calc test was mind-rottingly difficult as usual, but I don't think I failed. I was considering dressing up as a Hapsburg for Halloween but only a few people would get it, so I ended up sticking an "Overworked Student" sign on my shirt again.

Cookies go to Pathy for dressing up as Abby and doing an eerily good job of it, to Laura N. for dressing up as a toaster, and to whoever was wearing the Rubik's Cube costume for being awesome in general.

Anyway, since NaNoWriMo begins in approximately five hours, I'd like to take this moment to plug my writing journal, [livejournal.com profile] gnaercan_deity. It's friends-only, but comment there and I'll be sure to add you to the list. It'll be the only place where progress on and chapters of Suspension of Disbelief, this year's NaNovel, will be posted, so check it out. And read Fourth Wall, too, and give me feedback, because feedback is my friend. :)

Good luck to all you NaNoers out there!

Meme stolen from [livejournal.com profile] mllereddeath. Kindly answer the following questions in your comments (if you feel like it):

a. Who would people ship me with?
b. Who would be my arch-nemesis?
c. What would a Mary Sue in my fandom be like?
d. When or how did I/will I jump the shark?
e. Write a one sentence summary of the story that would win the Best Fanfic Award in my fandom.
f. What would a typical badfic involve?

Also, the journal I'm currently using for my NaNovel is [livejournal.com profile] gnaercan_deity. I'll be putting up the first few chapters of Fourth Wall in a day or so. Maybe even tonight, if I feel up to it.

And now: the challenging but ultimately very satisfying task of reading everyone else's NaNovels - challenging because pretty much everyone I know won, and satisfying because pretty much everyone I know pwns me at writing.

But first I've got to study for that Chem test. *clutches brain and falls over ded*

I'm going to lose quite a lot of sleep and flunk the math test...but yes, yes, I think I just might be able to make it.

Speaking of school, I don't understand the chem stuff we're doing, which is bad cos I have a test on Friday. Gack. Not good.

Went to the library today to do research for Julius Caesar paper.

~LML does not have Men at Arms.

~It does, however, have Phantom of Manhattan.

A lot of things are going through my mind right now, but things like How?! and Why?! and OMGWTFBBQUSSR?! are among the top ten.

Also, is it a bad thing if I can't hand-write the words "civil war" without automatically capitalizing them? I've been trying to for a while now and I keep on erasing and trying again and poof, big capital letters. I figure I should just give up and remember to decapitalize them in the final copy.

There is NO WAY I am going to be able to finish NaNo this year. Not with just under 20,000 words to write and less than five days left.

I figure if I write 5000 words every day from now on, I'll be done by Tuesday.

Here's to hoping it works. *cracks knuckles*

In other news, we didn't go to Gettysburg today due to a long and complicated mess of reasons involving homework and the temperature (because Lawrence-my-cousin is apparently really, really unused to the cold, due to his three years in California). So I didn't get to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] greencat3, which really, really sucks.

I can do this. Rarg. *chugs away*

In other news, my tutee failed to show up in third period today like she was supposed to. This annoyed me, because I don't like walking from my study hall in room 300 to the Black Box. I hung around in the Tutor Room for about half a period before giving up and walking back.

Blah. Seriously, person, if you're doing that poorly in German and request my help, please show up when we have sessions. Because you wasted half of my study hall and there were better things I could have been doing than walking through the hallways.

Night Maiden: Pirates of the Revolution. o-o
BubonicWoodchuck: o.O
Night Maiden: It was a commercial for some game. No idea what it is and it's called "Pirates of the Revolution" and it made me go: o-O
BubonicWoodchuck: *imagines random pirate with a large red flag atop a barricade*
Night Maiden: xD
BubonicWoodchuck: "For ye Republic! Arrr!"

Also: I have officially lost all hope in the Phantom of the Opera phandom.

Why, you ask? One word: "Erick."

Good night, everyone.

I think I've hit that part in the novel where everything just flows now, though. So hopefully it'll be okay from here.

Grand total of 24 more words since yesterday, due to extreme business.

For your entertainment, though, I provide my entry to the newest round of "Fill the Plothole" at the PPC Message Board, because I'm vaguely proud of it. In case you didn't know, "Fill the Plothole" is a highly entertaining game in which the first poster skims through the "Just In" section at fanfiction.net and puts up the weirdest-sounding/badly-spelled summaries on the board. In order to play, you pick any of the summaries and write a short ficlet based around the summary. The fics don't have to involve the PPC, or even be humorous for that matter, but a good majority of them are both because we're the PPC and we're crazy like that. xP

So, without further ado, the summary I picked:

4. PHANTOM RELIVED by ErikandChristine
Dreams like this can't come true, but mine did. In it was everyone from the books. But i wasn't living in a book because this was real. I was RELIVING THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. First FicPlease R&R

And the ficlet I wrote based on it. Contains spoilers for the Leroux Phantom of the Opera, I suppose.

Many, many thanks to Pelly and Pathy, who gave me a Bloody Awesome Pencil that says "What Would Jehan Do?" on it. Plus it's sharp. :3 I'd put a photo of it up, but whenever I try to photograph it, it turns out all blurry. Ah well.

And now: Chapters One and Two of Fourth Wall, my NaNovel. Apologies in advance, because it's nowhere near the quality of anyone else's attempt. Ireny is not responsible for blindness caused by reading this.

That goal of getting back on-track by tomorrow's looking a bit doubtful. By the end of this week, then. I can do that.

So. I figure I'm going to try and hit 15,000 by Wednesday so I can get back on track in terms of wordcount. Sort of a birthday present to myself, if you will (yes, the Ireny is turning 15 on Wednesday. Unfortunately, she is still the youngest member of Posfe XP).

And I have this really, really annoying urge to draw Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain eating Pocky. It's all [livejournal.com profile] greencat3's fault. :P

...my God. That's really, really sad. I thought I'd written more than that, but...apparently I didn't.

Writing lots really fast just isn't what I'm good at, I guess. I have to think for a while before I actually start typing. I knew that before I started NaNo. I just...gah. That's really sad.

And I think I'm sick. I've been feeling sick for the past week. Not sick sick, just a few headaches here and an upset stomach there, and the occasional feeling like I'm going to throw up but I can't. Boy, would that suck. I'd die if I had to miss a day of school.

I did have fun at Pathy's write-in, though. I left early instead of sleeping over, 'cos I have church tomorrow, but I probably wouldn't have written much more anyway because I'm unproductive and incompetent like that. :/ I have this really cool plot, or so everyone says. The problem is, apparently, that I just can't get it out of my head and onto the screen in 50,000 words.
