Spent the last couple days catching up on Shoujo Cosette, since I forbade myself from watching it before my early app was sent. xD The last few episodes have been more or less okay. Um. Except for the last one.

I think I need to explain a bit here. xD; This is the first ten minutes of the original Les Miserables anime, released in Japanese in 1979 and horribly dubbed in 1983.

Awful is just about the only word I can think of to describe it. The character designs are crap and the dubbing is less than stellar and it's so melodramatic it makes Wuthering Heights look like Daisy Miller. And this clip doesn't even have Javert and his Tiny Goatee, or Enjolras and his Jay Leno Chin. I think it's safe to say that I will never complain about Shoujo Cosette's character designs again (though I reserve the right to complain about everything else).

That said, this is still the funniest thing I've seen in weeks. Enjoy.

Finally caught up on Shoujo Cosette. xD The last couple of episodes have been surprisingly canonical if slightly filler-ish (that is, they've contained a lot of Marius daydreaming about Cosette and Cosette daydreaming about Marius and the Thenardiers looking poor). But it's all good, because episode 27 had (I kid you not) Les Amis: We Help Lost Children Find Their Mummies! and Enjolras vs. Rabid Fangirls.

Seriously, you need to watch that episode just for Enjolras vs. Rabid Fangirls. That was priceless.

And then in episodes 28 and 29 the plot returns with a vengeance, as everything is DARK AND SERIOUS and OHNOES VALJEAN IS GOING TO GET ROBBED BUT WE'RE GOING TO DRAG IT ON FOR PROBABLY FOUR EPISODES BECAUSE OTHERWISE WE'D HAVE TO GO BACK TO FILLERS ABOUT LES AMIS HELPING THE COMMUNITY.

(Incidentally, Les Amis seems to consist of only Enjolras, Combeferre, Courfeyrac, Grantaire, Bossuet, and Prouvaire. And Bossuet not only has a full head of hair, he also has a beard. Go figure. But I digress.)

I'm just waiting for the next episode to freaking come out already, because World Masterpiece Theatre can redeem themselves of all that fluffy uncanonical crap in the first five episodes if they pull off Javert's (did I say Javert's? I meant JIYABERU-KEIBU-SAMA's) entrance right.

And it's high time they got new opening and ending themes. They haven't changed at all and there are only so many times you can take clips of Ickle!Cosette with a broom and Valjean lifting carts and whatnot. There should be a new one with dramatic shots of Les Amis and Javert and impressive electric guitar solos in the background.

...okay, maybe not. But still.

Torrented and watched the third episode of Shoujo Cosette yesterday. It's not up on YouTube yet, but as soon as it is, I'll let you know.

Thoughts under the cut, as usual!

It's amazing how I can understand everything Mr. Burkhardt talks about in class and successfully complete all the homework, only to completely blank out on the test and do horribly, despite the fact that I should know exactly what I'm doing.

*waves farewell to potential A this quarter* D:

...meh, I'll just pull it up to a B as usual. I'm starting to get the feeling that I wasn't meant to Aznpass Calculus.

Anyway. We finished reading Hamlet in English today. I still haven't decided if I fangirl anyone from it yet. xD;

And! And the subbed second episode of Shoujo Cosette is up on YouTube! Find it here: Part One, Part Two, Part Three.

Thoughts on the new episode under the cut!

Huzzah! )

Haven't updated in a week. o.O Wow.

Dad's surgery went really well, and I'm extremely grateful for that. :) Thanks for all of your prayers, guys.

A couple months ago I heard about a new Les Miserables anime that'd be coming out soon called Shoujo Cosette. It is, predictably, about little Cosette. xD And Valjean in M-sur-M, too. (The homepage is here, in case you're interested.) Anyway, Alex alerted me to the first episode on YouTube yesterday, and then I discovered a subbed version, so here it is:

Episode One (1/3)
Episode One (2/3)
Episode One (3/3)

It's...eh. I haven't developed much of an opinion of it yet - I think I'll have to watch more to form one. xD;

Or I might have one. We'll see.

Javert's design makes me a Sad Fangirl because he looks way too much like your typical jerkface villain (which he isn't SILENCE CAROLINE). Ickle!Cosette is brainrottingly cute, although the subtitles seem to imply that TholomyƩs is dead in this version, in a possible attempt to keep it kid-friendly (the series seems to be geared towards children). Or is that Fantine lying on purpose? Also, this "Alain" bit-character is making me a bit suspicious. He's kind of Gavroche-y. Ten francs says he's only there to run around M-sur-M and get his ears boxed by Javert in order to further antagonise the poor inspector. :P

...but none of that really matters*, because I laughed uncontrollably for at least two minutes when I first heard the Random Ladies call Valjean "Madeleine-san."

*Well, okay. Javert's crap design still bugs me. But other than that.

Also, I submitted my Landel's app yesterday. xD; Here's to hoping I make it in.
